Celebrity divorce has been increasing over the years, in some ways becoming a reality series of its own. It can provide entertainment and gossip for fans who are interested in their favorite stars’ separation. Celebrity divorces, on the other hand, can create significant disturbance in their lives, families, and professions.
Everyone knows that after a divorce, the two former lovers can end up in very different situations. Sometimes the woman becomes a millionaire, while the former husband finds himself in need of financial help. However, this is not always the case.
Just like any other month, May also has its share of own list of celebrities who decided to divorce. Here is the list of the celebrities whose divorce has made headlines.
Steve Burton and Sheree Burton
May has started with a very messy and scandalous split coming from Steve Burton and his now-former wife, Sheree Burton. The reason behind this is her pregnancy.
Unfortunately, the actor discovered she was not carrying his child. He declared their split on social media right afterward, addressing the entire chaos.
“I wanted to clear something up,” he wrote on Instagram. “Sheree and I are separated.”
“She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve.”
Sheree, who has been mum about their divorce, recently revealed her pregnancy on Instagram by posting a snapshot of her side profile with her baby belly. Makena, Jack, and Brooklyn are the couple’s three children, and they’ve been married since 1999.
As of this writing, the father of the child she is carrying remains unknown. This news will be difficult for Steve to accept, especially as it comes after he was sacked from “General Hospital” for failing to comply with COVID-19 immunization requirements.
Lisa Hochstein And Lenny Hochstein
The next couple had been talking about divorce for years, but it wasn’t until May that they decided to go their own ways. Lisa Hochstein and Lenny Hochstein of “The Real Housewives of Miami” are divorcing after 12 years of marriage for an undisclosed reason.
The pair married in 2009 and have two children together, Logan and Elle, who were both born via surrogacy. Fans suspect that cheating played a significant role in their decision to split.
A video of Lenny hugging another woman surfaced on the internet lately, prompting claims that he is having an affair with his wife. Later, he revealed that he had started dating Katharina Mazepa and that the decision to divorce was made before he started seeing the Austrian model.
Things have gotten a little tangled after the plastic surgeon requested that the reality star vacate their $52 million Miami Beach home. According to him, Lisa stated that if one of them filed for divorce, she would leave the house, which Lenny did on May 20 in Florida.
He further pointed out that despite their prenuptial agreement not requiring him to give Lisa a home, he pledged to fund all of her relocation costs. Lisa has yet to address the current events that have occurred between them, although stating that she will do so soon.
Jen Armstrong and Ryne Holliday
Another cast member from the Real Housewives franchise has also decided to file a divorce, and this is none other than Jen Armstrong and her spouse for eight years, Ryne Holliday.
The real housewife has filed for divorce in Orange County Superior Court and additionally seeks legal and physical custody of their children, including visiting rights for Ryan.
Furthermore, Jen claims that their divorce was caused by “irreconcilable differences” and that the court should terminate spousal support for both parties.
This isn’t the first time they’ve separated; in February, she confessed that they split briefly after the reality show went off the air and that their previous separation was “healing” for the relationship. In her legal papers, the businesswoman chooses September 8, 2021, as the date of their divorce.
Elyse Slaine and Reinhold Gebert
Elyse Slaine and Reinhold Gebert are also separating, so we may have another housewife on our list. After almost four years of marriage, the former “Real Housewives of New York City” star and her spouse have decided to call it quits.
The two tied the knot in 2018, barely five years after the reality star has legally divorced her first husband, David Slaine, in 2013. Despite being cast in Bravo TV’s hit reality show, her relationship with the chief operating officer and chief risk officer of Teza Technologies received little notice during her tenure on the show.
Sadly, Gebert was last spotted in a selfie on her active Instagram page in July 2020, soon after the couple celebrated the two-year anniversary of their beach wedding.
Candice Accola and Joe King
Another pair opted to conclude the month with divorce papers just before the end of May. Due to “irreconcilable differences,” Candice Accola and Joe King are divorcing after seven years of marriage.
The couple allegedly split between January, with the actress going to Nashville and the singer staying in Brentwood, Tennessee. They married in New Orleans in October 2014 and have two children, Florence and Josephine.
The two still follow each other on Instagram. Still, King erased their images and only kept social media postings with their children, while Accola deleted all of her Instagram posts and hasn’t worn her wedding ring in any of the posts since.
When you’ve been married for more than 20 years, it’s natural to question if now is the right time to talk about your marital status with your spouse and try to settle any concerns that have occurred.
The media attention that follows a high-profile divorce may be overbearing and stressful, making the marriage breakdown difficult for everyone concerned. Knowing how awful divorce can be, it’s disappointing to learn that our favorite celebrity is getting divorced. Empathy is understandable, but remember that this is a challenging process for them.
Divorce is a common occurrence in our society that often makes headlines. It’s important to remember that just because your favorite celebrity ended their marriage doesn’t mean they are any different than the average person who goes through this experience.
